Choosing How Many Golems to Use
Choosing the correct number of Golems is very important. If you choose too few, your attack will fall apart quickly, but if you choose too many you likely won't have enough DPS to finish the attack. So how do you go about choosing how many Golems to use? Let's break down this decision into two separate groups: Armies and Strike Teams. Just to be clear, an army is a standard attack that uses Golems; whereas a Strike Team is group of troops used to take out certain objectives like the defending Clan Castle troops or Archer Queen.
Here are examples of how they are respectively named.

The higher level your heroes are the more Golems you can use--at least that's how it works in theory. In general though, if you use more Wizards you can use two or three Golems. If the majority of your damage sources are comprised of troops like Bowlers or Valkyries, then it is better to use only two Golems and keep the extra slots for more dps.

Using Strike Teams
Strike Teams are the hallmark of high level attack strategies. They can be altered and used for many different purposes and are considered the most versatile types of attacks. Mastering these meta tech strategies will make you a feared attacker. Here are examples of how to use Strike Teams in your attacks.
Cold Blooded
Targets
1) Heroes
2) Clan Castle troops
3) A key defense or bomb spot
Note: Don't expect Cold Blooded strike teams to destroy the Town Hall
Example Targets: Archer Queen, Barbarian King, Bomb Tower, and possible bomb spot
Shattered
Targets
1) Heroes
2) Clan Castle troops
3) 2-6 key defenses and/or bomb spots
Note: Shattered strike teams can sometimes destroy the Town Hall
Example Targets: Archer Queen, Barbarian King, Bomb Tower, both Wizard Towers, maybe the Town Hall, and two possible bomb spots
Stoned
Targets
1) Heroes
2) Clan Castle troops
3) 5-10 key defenses and/or bomb spots
Note: Stoned strike teams MUST destroy the Town Hall
Example Targets: Archer Queen, Barbarian King, Bomb Tower, both Wizard Towers, the Town Hall, Tesla Trap, X-Bows, and two possible bomb spots
Conclusion
Hopefully that sheds some light how to use Golems more effectively. Remember, if you're using more than three Golems that becomes your whole attack and your goal should be 100% destruction. Keep your goals in mind when selecting the number of Golems you will be using. As with all high level attacks, every troop should have a specific purpose and target, so be sure to do a lot of scouting before deciding what attack to use. Hero levels are the single most important factor when deciding how many Golems to use in an attack, so be sure to practice a lot! Have your clan mates send out friendly challenges all day and just keep your army waiting. This is perfect if you're upgrading your barracks or won't be raiding for a few days. Of course, it goes without saying that there is no replacement for good practice. So get out there and make it happen!
